LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)

A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is an official document which an employer requires before hiring a foreign national to work in Canada. A positive LMIA or a letter of confirmation shows that there is a need for a foreign individual to do the job. It also elucidates that no Canadian working person or a permanent resident of Canada is available to do the job. Once a positive LMIA decision is received, the foreign national can apply for a work permit.
